My How 10 Years Have Flown by!

Hello Luvs and Happy Sunday,

10th Anniversary flower...Daffodil...
It seems as if I was just saying that! It's been a busy week, and during that time I have celebrated my tenth anniversary with the Hubster. Before I tell ya how we celebrated, I will give you a history of how we came to be....Mr & Mrs Wilson.

To start off, when I lived in San Franciso in the mid to late ninties, so did he.  We actually lived a couple of blocks away from each other. He thinks maybe he came into where I worked on Fillmore and maybe he did. Either way, it was not meant for us to meet then.  Both he and I were different people then and it was not the time for us to meet, nevermind the fact that he was in a relationship with a long term girlfriend.

Stone...diamond!
So, fast forward a couple of years. I had moved back to Southern California, and was out having dinner with friends. Got a call from the drummer of a band I was in down in Orange County asking if I wanted to go to Vegas. Her boyfriend's company was up for a shoe award, and they wanted me to come along. At first I said no, then after some encouragment from the friends I was with, I decided to call her back and take her up on her generous offer. I didn't mention that I was in a bit of a funk because of a very bad experience that I had with a music producer (yes, the typical industry horror story!), and was swearing off many things...!

Flew to Vegas a few days later and went to the awards show (unfortunately my friend did not win, I think Skechers did?). Asking the taxi driver where would be a good place to go out, he suggested three spots, and we decided on the Hard Rock.  Well, Skechers has a huge party twice a year, and without an invite you have to pay to get in.  Me, being the miser that I was at the time thought the price they were asking for was outrageous.  He talked them down, and we went in.  After about 20 minutes, I was over the scene.  All the guys had on VERY TIGHT shirts, and the women were dressed rather tacky. It was definitely not my vibe. I was BEYOND ready to go... Then I got this feeling.  Hard to describe other than a feeling I had inside my bones.  I turned around, and there he was (minus his date that cancelled on him...her loss!).  I said to myself...OH MY, and headed directly to the ladies' room to freshen up.  Of course, I left my bag with my friends so no freshening up for me!!!! I told myself to just go for it, and I headed back to the stage area. Once I got closer I leaned over and said hello (even though Josh said he was the first to speak).  We hung out for six hours, and said goodbye after we exchanged info.

Color? Silver of course...!
When I got home I told EVERYONE that would listen that I met the man that I was going to marry.  Got a lot of SAY WHATS!!?? That was February 24, 2001. We got engaged on the evening of my birthday (March 31, 2001), and we married on July 27, 2002. Two WONDERFUL children and 11 1/2 years after laying eyes on each other for the first time, I am forever thankful that Miss Sara (and Pierre) called me and that my friends supported me.  They changed the path of my life....and I am FOREVER GRATEFUL!

How did we celebrate? We tried out a Thai place on Central (The Orchid...which was divine!), went to a movie (Beasts of the Southern Wild...which was also divine-poetry to film!), and ran late night errands.  All in all, it was a wonderful evening!

Til next time,

Kat

  1. Congratulations! It was meant to be! Funny how things have a way of working themselves out. My husband and I crossed paths a time or two - not meant to be for various reasons - until, bam! one time it was. That was 28 years ago and I've never regretted one minute (:
